Art in the Park is a new initiative at Blandford Manor.
Artists are free to display their art in the gardens at Blandford Manor on the first week-end of the month.
There are, inevitably, some rules, but they are pretty simple, as follows:
- We don’t judge you, if you think your art is worth displaying, then give it a try, you have nothing to lose.
- Entrance is currently free for the artist, but any family members accompanying the artist must pay our normal entry fee of R50 pp
- This initiative is intended to assist artists, art must therefore be your own work, we do not allow the selling of artwork by third parties or companies
- Please bring you own chairs, tables, display boards, easels etc. We supply nothing, that includes power.
- Whatever you bring must be taken home, we do not store items at Blandford Manor.
- No access by vehicles into the gardens – please park in our regular car park and take your paintings etc from there – note our staff are NOT available to assist.
- Please remember that no children under 15 years of age are permitted at Blandford Manor, this applies to artists family as well as visitors
- We have a credit card machine that may be used to facilitate your sales, however please note that we charge 5% for this facility (10% for American Express and Diners Club) and will deposit the proceeds into your account, we do not pay out cash.
- No food or drink may be brought in, you are welcome to purchase anything you need from our restaurant.
- Please do nothing to damage the grass or plants, this is a botanical garden
- Please restrict your activities to our standard operating hours – there are NO extensions allowed for setting up and breaking down your displays
- No music permitted, not even soft music
- This is NOT a Flea market, only bone fide works of art are permitted
- No structures are allowed, an umbrella or small gazebo are permitted
- Art may be displayed only in the area(s) provided, please do not choose an area without approval from management
